Tees Credit Union is a credit union as defined by the Credit Unions Act 1979. Our credit union is a financial services co-operative owned by its members and with its surplus returned to them. Members’ personal funds are held in share accounts which are protected under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
Our Common Bond – allows us to offer our savings and loans services to anyone who lives or works within the area known as the Tees Valley, and also the counties of North Yorkshire and County Durham.
Tees Credit Union is proud to say that we have been in business for over twenty years offering a range of financial products to our members. Feedback from a recent survey tells us we have a XX satisfaction rate from the local people who use our services.

Our volunteer board of directors is appointed by our members to run the credit union. Currently there are 6 serving directors (maximum 15). Most directors have experience at board or senior manager level in the business sector, local government, health and housing, Please visit our webpage for more information.
We currently have 4 full time employees all based at 111 High Street, Stockton-On Tees, they are responsible for operations including the day to day back office functions and customer access arrangements. We also have a cohort of volunteers who help mainly run the various collection points across our area and assist with office administration.
To be recognised as the provider of choice for financial products and services and the obvious alternative to high street banks and payday lenders within the Tees Valley, County Durham and North Yorkshire.

By holding deposits with us, local organisations are choosing to support their credit union and their local economy by helping the credit union to grow our savings, which can then be used to support other members who may be in financial difficulty and may need to borrow money from us
Deferred Shares are a way of investing in Your Community Bank Tees Credit Union. There is no maximum on what can be deposited. Deferred shares are transferable but not withdrawable and are only repayable in limited circumstances. Deferred shares count towards the capital of a credit union and buying deferred shares is a way in which businesses and organisations can invest in the strength of the credit union.
